HECTOR -- The Rev. Omer Allen Leske, 94, of Hector, died Monday at the Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in Zion Evangelical Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to hospice or the Zion United Methodist Church.
He was born Oct. 25, 1914, on a farm in Renville County north of Fairfax to William and Augusta (Ebent) Leske. His childhood years were spent living on a farm near Buffalo Lake. After graduation from Buffalo Lake High School in 1934, he helped on the farm. He then attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa, where he graduated in 1939.
He married Mildred Wilson on June 30, 1940. He graduated from Evangelical Seminary in Naperville, Ill., in 1942. His first pastoral assignments included Pequot Lakes from 1942-1945, Sheridan Boulevard Evangelical Church in Denver from 1946 to 1947, Spring Valley from 1947 to 1954, Madison from 1954 to 1963, Wabasso Pilgrim and New Avon Salem from 1963 to 1974, Atwater-Oak Park-Rosendale from 1974 to 1979 and Osceola on a semi-retired basis from 1979 to 1990. He served 51 years in the ministry.
Survivors include two sons: Allen (and Marilyn) Leske of Rochester, and Larry (and Lonnie) Leske of Redwood Falls; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and a great-grandson.
