WILLMAR - Richard B. Bailey, 64 of Willmar died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home in Willmar. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Arrangements are with the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Richard Binger Bailey was born Dec. 1, 1948 in Albert Lea, to Norman and Marie (Binger) Bailey. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Having a visual handicap, he was home schooled and tutored and later went to the Minnesota Braille School. He received his G.E.D. certificate and attended Crossroad Services in Willmar for vocational and work experience.
Richards interests included nature, camping, community activities and sports he followed on his radio. He enjoyed his annual vacation travels learning about our country and its people. Music was special to him and he studied voice and played the Schulmerich bells in a group that gave concerts throughout Minnesota. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Willmar and was devoted to bible study and "Jesus Cares." In recent years when he had major health challenges he found comfort in this faith and his Savior.
He is survived by mother, Marie Bailey; guardians, Gary and Lois Beckendorf. He was preceded in death by father, Norman, sister, Janet Bailey; grandparents, Herman and Emma Binger; grandmother, Octavia Johnson; and aunt, Alice Binger.
