Richard E. Rew
Richard E. Rew of Mesa, AZ (formerly of Blomkest, MN) passed away peacefully on April 16, 2014. He was born September 24, 1923 in Frazee, MN to Carl and Margaret (Early) Rew. Richard graduated from Frazee (MN) High School in 1941. He was united in marriage to the late Hermine (Sanden) Rew on April 27, 1957. Hermine passed away on January 16, 1978. They were blessed with 5 children: Becky Sipley, Mark Rew, Karen Schwieso, Bruce Rew, and Nancy Anderson. Richard married Hazel Baril on February 14, 1993 and resided in Mesa, Arizona. Richard worked for many years at Norling Bros. Silo Company as a silo builder. In later years he worked as a painter and handyman.
Richard loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing card games and created many wood projects. Richard served on the Svea Lutheran Church Council and the Blomkest City Council.
Richard is survived by his wife Hazel of Mesa, AZ. 5 children: Becky Sipley (John) of Norwalk IA, Mark Rew (Judy Larson) of Svea MN, Karen Schwieso (Jeff) of Alexandria MN, Bruce Rew (September) of North Little Rock AR, and Nancy Anderson (Jeff) of Blomkest MN; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 9 step children; and 32 step grandchildren; and 17 step great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother Mert Rew of Pine Island, MN. Richard is proceeded in death by his parents Carl and Margaret Rew; wife Hermine Rew; sisters Lois Briese and Jean Wahl; and brothers Charlie Rew and Robert Rew.
Funeral services were held at Victory Lutheran Church, 5946 E. University Drive, Mesa, AZ, on Saturday April 19th at 10am.
A celebration of life and burial for Richard will be held at Svea Lutheran Church, 12651 15th St SE, Svea, MN on Saturday, May 3rd at 2pm. Memorials can be sent to Svea Lutheran Church.
