Richard J. Notch Aug. 26, 1939 - Oct. 30, 2008
BROOTEN -- Richard John Notch, 69, of rural Brooten died Thursday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten, with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Brooten to Mathias and Elizabeth (Wichman) Notch. He grew up on a farm near Elrosa and attended the local school.
He married Barbara Kiken in 1966 in Sauk Centre. They lived on a farm near Brooten. He worked for the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association. Barbara died in 1970.
He married Catherine Nelson in 1975 in Brooten. They lived on the farm near Brooten. He worked for Pope County DHIA.
He is survived by his five children: Tami Notch (and Dave Kortan) of Little Sauk, Matthew (and Marlene) Notch of Wilton, N.D., Mark (and Barbara) Notch of Maple Grove, Krissy Notch of Montevideo, and Jackie Notch (and Scott Schearer) of Maynard; stepson: Scott (and Tina) Nelson of Montevideo; seven grandchildren; siblings: Rosie (and Richard) Torgusen of Elbow Lake, Ruth (and Clarence) Wolters of Belle River and Norbert (and Carlin) Notch of Sauk Centre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and a brother in infancy.
