HANCOCK -- Richard Robert Schmidgall, 84, of Morris, died Thursday in Morris.
The service was held Monday. Arrangements were with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.
He was born March 27, 1924, in Hancock to Henry and Emma (Koehl) Schmidgall. He graduated from Hancock High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after World War II and joined the family business, Hancock Concrete.
He married Corrine Mae Moser on April 14, 1957, in Morris. They lived in Hancock and he worked at Hancock Concrete until 2004. He retired at age 80, having served as president and CEO for many years. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Morris where he served in several capacities.
He is survived by his wife; six children: Nancy (and Jim) Kaufmann of Towanda, Ill., Robert (and Kathryn) Schmidgall of Hancock, Brenda (and Mark) Knobloch of Morris, Bruce (and Penny) Schmidgall of Hancock, Lois (and Chuck) Massner of Mediapolis, Iowa, and Peggy (and Tony) Ascheman of Hancock; son-in-law: Roger Evink of Hancock; 28 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings: Wayne (and Dorothy) Schmidgall of Morris, Hartzell (and Marian) Schmidgall of Mediapolis, Iowa, Don (and Virginia) Schmidgall of Hancock, Gilbert (and Barbara) Schmidgall of Morris, Gene (and Dorothy) Schmidgall of Hancock, Gladys Messner of Morris, Estella Moser of Morris and Darlene Carlton of Bonney Lake, Wash.
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Mary Evink; and one brother.
