Ridgewater College, Willmar, Minn., company receive grant for specialized training
WILLMAR -- Ridgewater College is using a state grant to help Willmar Fabrication develop a customized training program to help the company meet its workforce needs.
A grant signing ceremony will kick off the new partnership at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Willmar Fabrication facility on 19th Avenue in Willmar. The company moved to its new facility a year ago after selling its facility on Airport Road to a farm equipment manufacturer from Canada.
A Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant of nearly $50,000 will help the college and business provide a variety of training programs over the next 18 months.
Willmar Fabrication designs and manufactures innovative fertilizer and chemical application equipment and seed handling products. It was originally founded in 2005 to provide customers with contract fabrication, welding, assembly and painting.
The company's main focus has shifted to sales, marketing, product development and manufacturing proprietary products, but it does maintain some contract work.
