The Lady Warriors are now 1-3 in the 13 pre-division contests leading up to the MCAC South opener on Jan. 7.

"If we learned anything tonight, it's that we've got to be more physical and people have to take the open shot and not pass off," commented Lady Warriors coach Carrie Ogdahl. "On the positive side, they are an (NCAA) Division II school and giving up 66 points isn't so bad."

Ridgewater made 11-of-21 shots in the first half, but still trailed 31-23 in its home opener. Ridgewater struggled mightily in the second half, making just 6-of-20 shots, while Northern State shot 61 percent (14-of-23).

Sophomore guard Tara Thielke led Ridgewater with a game-high 23 points.

Thielke made all three of the Lady Warriors three-pointers, grabbed five rebounds, had three assists and three steals.

Freshman post Alison Mason made 5 of 6 shots for 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. But no other Lady Warrior scored more that one field goal.

Northern State, which had a 37-29 edge in rebounds, had four players reach double figures, led by guards Colleen Doerr and Kathleen Reynolds with 13 each. Six-foot post Maggie Bryant added 12 points and Alycia Dahl had 11, plus nine rebounds.
