Ridgewater meets Mesabi Range Thursday in state/region tourney

ST. CLOUD -- The Ridgewater Warriors have earned the No. 2 seed in the nine-team MCAC State/Region 13 Tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday at the St. Cloud Municipal ball fields.

The Warriors (28-12) will meet No. 7 Mesabi Range at noon Thursday at Putz Field. The winner would play the winner of No. 3 Itasca vs. No. 6 St. Cloud Technical at 3 p.m. at Faber Field.

Mesabi took a pair from Ridgewater on March 7 at Dodgertown, Fla, 9-7 and 3-2.

Other Thursday games include No. 4 Rochester against No. 5 Riverland and No. 9 Northland vs. No. 8 Vermilion. The winner will face No. 1 Dakota County that evening.

The championship game is set for noon Sunday at Faber Field with a second game, if necessary, to follow.

The tournament champion advances to the NJCAA Division III Tournament beginning May 22 in Tyler, Texas.
