Ridgewater men fall to Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minneapolis, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division III poll, shot a torrid 57 percent and had 12 players score en route to a 114-80 rout over Ridgewater in a junior college men's basketball action on Saturday.

Ridgewater (14-10) lost to Minneapolis (24-1) in the first meeting on Jan. 21, 75-68, in a much closer game in Willmar. This time, however, Minneapolis was hitting from all over the floor. The Mavericks sank 10-of-17 three-pointers while the Warriors managed to hit only 6-of-22.

Casey Sussenguth led Ridgewater with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Cory Nietfeld added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Derek Eiesenschenk and Tom Boike had 12 points apiece. Eisenschenk's points all came on three-pointers, where he connected on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Cameron Hodges had 20 points for Minneapolis, which led 60-26 at halftime.

Kenny Olafeso added 17 points for the Mavericks. Michael Walsh and Peter Olafeso 15 each and Sean Mayberry 10. Demerius Williams dished out 10 assists.

Ridgewater hosts Rochester Wednesday in hits final home game before capping the regular season at Minnesota West next Saturday.
