Ridgewater rolls past Fergus Falls
FERGUS FALLS -- Not too many things, it seems, will derail the Ridgewater Express.
Despite missing their libero and another middle hitter to minor injuries, the Lady Warriors volleyball team swept Fergus Falls 25-16, 25-18, 25-13 in an MCAC Southern Division match Wednesday.
"We haven't played this well in a while. We were very efficient offensively," said Ridgewater coach Joe Sussenguth. "We played good sideout volleyball where we didn't get stuck in long rallies. That's the way we like to see our game go."
Emily Roelike slammed 11 kills to lead a balanced Ridgewater (22-1) attack. Macy McKay, Hannah Smith and Maggie Zirk added nine each. Smith served five of the Lady Warriors' 13 aces, Molly Hurrle had 39 assists, Zirk contributed five blocks and Aimee Johnson had 11 digs.
Bodin, who earned the division's Libero of the Week, has some minor aches and is getting some time off.
"Brandi works extremely hard and sometimes that puts her on the shelf," Sussenguth said. "We're at the time of the year where we have to rest her more."
Kostboth has a knee strain and is day-to-day, working on building up strength in the joint.
Everyone will have the opportunity to rest, as Ridgewater has the weekend off. The Lady Warriors return to action Monday, traveling to St. Cloud Technical College.
