Ridgewater splits with St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD -- Ridgewater rapped 14 hits in the second game, including a two-run home run by Jodi Merritt, and defeated St,. Cloud Technical College 14-2 in five innings to earn a split of their doubleheader on Wednesday.

The Lady Warriors (8-2, 12-7) led the first game 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth before St. Cloud rallied for six runs, including a grand-slam homer Kayla Guck, to win 6-2.

"We left too many runners on in the first game," said Ridgewater coach Todd Thorstad. "We came off the bus kind of lifeless. But we got a spark in the second game and hit the ball well."

Kristin Kahle allowed five hits in five innings for the win in the second game. She walked one and struck out three.

Sam Drees went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Lady Warriors.

Ashley Schmeling and Kayla Terres had two hits each. Danyel Stoufer drove in three runs.

In the first game, Patina Queenan had two hits. Aubrey Wren drove in two runs. Heather Thoma was tagged with the loss, allowing eight hits and five earned runs, while walking one and striking out six.
