ST. CLOUD -- The Willmar Stingers have lost their sting.

At the moment, the Stingers appear harmless. They dropped two Northwoods League games in St. Cloud on Monday 5-1 and 8-1, each a seven-inning game at Joe Faber with the twin bill crowd listed at 1,800-plus.

Willmar has now lost five straight in the second half of the Northwoods League season.

Perhaps their bite will return back home tonight at the Bee Hive. The Stingers will host Duluth in the opening game of a three-night set at Baker Field.

In Monday's nightcap, the Stingers managed just two hits while the River Bats piled up a dozen.

In the first tilt, Anthony Bemboom's solo homer and Pat Stover's three hits was the extent of the Willmar offense.

Mitch Rowen and Sean Dwyer singled in Game Two, but that was it for Willmar.

Tonight's game will be a battle to escape the cellar. Duluth is also 1-5 after losing to the Rochester Honkers 8-5 last night.

Willmar finished the first half of the Northwoods League 17-15 in the Northern Division, 51/2 games behind the Mankato MoonDogs.
