WILLMAR — R&J Tours opened its new location at 1408 Willmar Ave. S.E., between Independence Place and the Sara Lee Bakery, on Nov. 1.

The new 6,000-square-foot space has more room than the company’s previous location off Highway 71 near Robbins Island Park. It has more private offices, a conference area and a break area for employees. It also has space available for rent.

The first three weeks in the new location have been “very lovely,” owner Ralph Engel said.

“We enjoy it very much,” he said. “We’ve gotten many positive comments from people who say it’s a beautiful building.”

R&J Tours chose the location at Willmar Avenue and Lakeland Drive after looking at several other options in town. This location was the company’s top choice, Engel said.

“The traffic seems to be excellent out here,” Engel said. “This was the ideal location for us.”

The total cost of the project was around $800,000. Construction took five months to complete.

“It was right on schedule,” Engel said. “It actually went quite rapidly.”
