Road conditions difficult this morning in Willmar area

WILLMAR -- Road conditions run the gamut today in western and central Minnesota, but they are difficult in the Willmar area, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

MnDOT's road conditions Web site describes conditions as difficult in Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine counties. There is snow on the roadway and slippery conditions.

Snow on the road and slippery conditions are also reported in Redwood and Renville counties, as well as farther south toward the Marshall area, but driving conditions are rated as fair.

Good driving conditions with only a few icy patches are reported in Swift, Pope and Stevens counties and other areas north of the Willmar region.

In all areas, MnDOT warns drivers to be prepared for extreme cold.
