Road projects start May 12, expect delays and detours
WILLMAR — Several road projects in west central Minnesota are expected to begin May 12 and motorists can expect delays or detours along those routes.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, roadwork on state Highway 67 from one mile south of Yellow Medicine County Road B1 near the Upper Sioux Agency to Fourth Avenue in Echo will include a bituminous overlay, aggregate shouldering and lining of culvert pipes. Traffic will be directed through the work zone by flaggers and a pilot car. The project is scheduled to be completed by early June.
Resurfacing work will also begin on state Highways 22 and 7 from Cosmos to Hutchinson and will include intersection improvements. Highway 22 traffic will be detoured onto state Highway 15. Motorists traveling on Highway 7 will be detoured via McLeod County Roads 115, 14 and 12. The detour is scheduled to be in place through the project duration. This project is scheduled to be completed by late August.
Duininck Inc. of Prinsburg is the prime contractor for the $1.2 million project on Highway 67 and the $7 million project on Highways 22 and 7.
Finally, traffic on state Highway 24 from Litchfield to Highway 15 will be detoured for crews to resurface that state highway.
Traffic will be detoured to Highways 22 and 55. The detour is scheduled to be in place through the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete by late August.
