The state Department of Transportation reports difficult driving conditions in Meeker, Pope, Redwood, Renville, Swift and Stearns counties in the area. Fair conditions are reported in Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine counties.

The National Weather Service says snowfall could be moderate to heavy at times this evening with accumulation of 2 to 4 inches likely over west central Minnesota, tapering off around 9 p.m. The winter weather advisory is now set to end at 9 tonight.

North to northwest winds will be increasing over southwest Minnesota by evening, which could cause reduced visibility from blowing snow.
