Roads conditions are fair to difficult, more snow coming

WILLMAR — The freezing rain conditions are expected to continue until around 2 p.m. today before temperatures drop and the precipitation turns into snow.

Road conditions are fair in Kandiyohi, Meeker, Renville, Chippewa, Yellow Medicine and Lac qui Parle counties and difficult in Swift and Stevens counties. Conditions in Pope County are mixed from good to difficult, according to the State Department of Transportation’s www.511mn.org website.

The National Weather Service forecast for Willmar calls for a total daytime accumulation of less than 0.10 inch of ice and less than an inch of snow. The snow potential is expected to diminish around 1 a.m.

The next wave of snow will arrive Saturday night into Sunday morning, with 1 to 2 inches expected and wind gusts as high as 30 mph. Snow is also likely on Monday and into Monday night with blustery winds possible.
