PHOENIX, AZ - Robert A. "Bob" Grove, 61, of Phoenix, AZ, died unexpectedly Friday, September 20, 2013 at his home in Phoenix. His service will be 11:00 am, Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org. Robert was born on December 7, 1951, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Alvin "Bud" and Helen (Anderson) Grove. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield in 1952 and confirmed at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar in 1964. Bob graduated from Willmar High School in 1969. Bob taught for several years at Willmar Vo-Tech in Fire Training before moving to Phoenix in 1997 where he became the Health and Safety Officer and Assistant Fire Marshall at Arizona State University in Phoenix. He had a true passion for what he did and enjoyed his family at ASU. Bob had been a firefighter and assistant fire chief for over 20 years.
Bob loved the outdoors whether it was the trips out west or just spending time outside in nature, his love for the outdoors was never ending.
Bob always had a concern for others and was encouraging to so many. Those who knew him well understood his greatness and his great sense of humor. He was proud of his family and kept close to those friends and family members far away with regular phone calls.
He had the honor of being a dad to Daniel and Amanda and mentored them through the years and recently became a grandpa and was so looking forward to meeting her for the first time.
Surviving are his sisters, Myrna (and Larry) Bratsch of Springfield, MO; Kathy (and Steve) Quam of Kandiyohi; step-children, Daniel Judkins of Willmar and Amanda Judkins (and fianc, Mike Dandl) of Cottage Grove and step-granddaughter, Brazia Marie Dandl. Also surviving are his five nieces, Stephanie (God-Child), Sarah (God-Child), Amanda, Emily, Melissa and nephew, Matthew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
