Robert L. Freberg Oct. 8, 1926 - Jan. 16, 2009
OLIVIA -- Robert Lyle Freberg, 82, of Hector died Friday at Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday January at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Osceola Township, Renville County, to Oscar and Pearl (Johnson) Freberg. He grew up in Osceola Township and attended rural school for eight years. He then attended one year of school in Hector and three years at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris.
He married Phyllis Catherine Kisling on Sept. 9, 1950, in Nashua, Iowa. They lived and farmed in Osceola Township until 1999 when they moved into Hector. He worked for Green Giant from 1958 to 1997. He also drove truck for Mike and Bill Olinger for many years during the winter months. After moving into town, he remained active on the farm.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the NFO, and he volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife; children: Alan (and Laura) Freberg of San Francisco, Geraldine (and Darrell) Boe of Ortonville, Dale (and Bonnie) Freberg of Menomonie, Wis., Shirley (and Ron) Beckler of Danube, Lyle Freberg of Norwood-Young America, Bruce (and Monica) Freberg of Hector, David (and Maria) Freberg of Kannapolis, N.C., Eric Freberg of Eau Claire, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Gerald (and Marion) Freberg of Omaha, Neb., and Doris Dahlgren of Hector.
