Robert L. Krug May 19, 1928 - March 18, 2009
LITCHFIELD -- Robert Louis Krug, 80, of Litchfield died Wednesday at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery with military honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born May 19, 1928, in Swede Grove Township, Meeker County, to Christian and Juliana (Kleider) Krug. He grew up and received his education in Grove City, graduating in 1946. He farmed with his brother Ralph on the home farm.
He married Arline Rudberg on Jan. 27, 1951, at the Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a heavy equipment operator with Johnson Brothers, worked for Sparboe Chick Company, was a hog farmer and a custodian for the Litchfield Public Schools.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife; children: Dean (and Cindy) Krug of Litchfield and Nancy (and Allen) Thorp of Grove City; three grandchildren; and his sisters: Margaret Wolff of Phoenix and Marquerite Rooney of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and a grandson.
