Robotics teams plan exhibition Saturday at Kandi Mall in Willmar, Minn.

WILLMAR -- Area teams in the Minnesota BEST Robotics Competition will be testing out their robots Saturday at the Kandi Mall in Willmar.

According to a news release, teams will be practicing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will run 3-minute matches from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The game field will be located just outside of the JCPenney store in the mall.

BEST stands for Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology.

BEST is a nonprofit, volunteer organization which works to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology through participation in science -- and engineering-based robotics competitions.

The first annual Minnesota BEST Robotics Competition will take place at New London-Spicer High School on Oct. 26 and 27.

Minnesota BEST is the first hub location in the state for BEST Inc. which has operated an annual robotics competition nationwide for 20 years.

Teams participating include ARCHER, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart, Digital Synergy-Willmar, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, New London-Spicer, Parkers Prairie and Paynesville.
