BIRD ISLAND -- Rodney Elmer Horrmann, 63, of Bird Island, died Wednesday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
He was born Oct. 25, 1945, in Hutchinson to George and Elsie (Kuester) Horrmann. He grew on the family farm at Hutchinson. He attended elementary school at Acoma Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School. He then served in the U.S. Army.
In 1965, he married Nancy Boldt. In 1980, he married Carol Rahn, and they lived in Hutchinson where he worked various jobs, as well as having owned and managed businesses. In 1984, they moved to West St. Paul where they worked at Diamond Lake Bowling. They moved to Dassel where they owned and operated the Prairie House Restaurant and he served as mayor. Later they moved to Bird Island. He worked at Jackpot Junction, the Sheep Shedde and most recently at Alco.
He is survived by his wife; children: Troy (and Christa) Horrmann of Plymouth; Gwyn (and Greg) Rasmussen of Medina; stepdaughter: Cindy (and Gaylord) Johnson of Bird Island; six grandchildren; and a brother: George Horrmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
