Roger "Tiger" Hanson


Roger "Tiger" Hanson, 76 of New London, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London where visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be immediately following the service at Oakhill Cemetery in New London. Funeral arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Roger Lee Hanson was born on February 7, 1938, in New London, the third son of Ervin and Alva (Norbie) Hanson. He grew up in New London where he attended grade school and New London High School, graduating in 1956. Roger joined the Minnesota National Guard from 1956-1958. On August 8th 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Ginger Danielson. This union was blessed with a son, Richard, and a daughter, Melissa. The family made their home along Crow River in New London. Roger owned and operated Tiger Marine as a Master Mechanic for 40 years and later Tigers Repair Shop. Tiger was a unique person, who loved racing boats, fixing motors, woodworking, planting trees and feeding wildlife. He had an amazing personality and the craziest laugh. Roger was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in New London. He also was a member of Duck Unlimited and Spicer American Legion, where he served as a past commander.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ginger; children, Richard (Jody) Hanson of Minneapolis and Melissa (Tim) Hansen of New London; five grandchildren, Logan, Leif, Ashley, Bradyn and Cody; and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Harvey and two sisters, Shirley and Linda.
