Rohloff of Willmar, Minn., seeks DFL endorsement in District 17B
WILLMAR -- Jessica Rohloff of Willmar announces her intention to seek the DFL endorsement for the Minnesota House of Representatives in redrawn District 17B. The district covers most of Kandiyohi County.
A lifelong resident of Kandiyohi County, Rohloff is a first-time candidate for elected office. Rohloff, 38, attended New London-Spicer Schools, Willmar Community College and earned her bachelor's degree in human services from the University of Minnesota-Morris in 1996.
Rohloff said in a news release that she seeks to restore integrity and a cooperative spirit in the governing process, as well as maintaining and building upon the district's leadership role in the areas of agriculture, economic development, education and health care.
Rohloff has worked as program director for Harmony Visitation Center and resource director for Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota. In 2005, she became a caregiver for her grandmother and managed the family farm.
She became self-employed in 2008 providing professional cleaning services. Also, she maintains an on-call position with a local health care organization as a mental health worker.
She is a member of Crow River Lutheran Church and served as council secretary and is treasurer.
She was named the 2000 Minnesota State Young Careerist by the Business and Professional Women's Clubs of Minnesota; served two terms as a Volunteer in Service to America; and participated in Relay for Life, the National Marrow Donor Program and Habitat for Humanity.
Rohloff views her greatest assets as lessons learned on family farms and the value of hard work, persistence, integrity and humility.
"Believing the strength of rural America lies in our tradition of respect, tolerance and concern for our neighbors, I look forward to representing District 17B,'' said Rohloff.
