Omar Jason Romero pleaded guilty to a second-degree drug sale felony, a felony for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and a gross misdemeanor for domestic assault.

As part of a plea agreement entered in Kandiyohi County District Court, two first-degree witness tampering charges, a second-degree assault charge, a terroristic threats charge and a list of lesser traffic violations against Romero will be dismissed. He will be sentenced Nov. 2.

The witness tampering charges were the last filed against Romero, who allegedly threatened to kidnap a woman's daughters, take them to Mexico, get them hooked on drugs and prostitute them. The woman was scheduled to testify against Romero in the drug case, for selling 5.4 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $800on Dec. 16.

The fleeing charge stemmed from a June 15 incident that involved a police pursuit through Willmar that began near Willmar Avenue and First Street, went through the mall parking lot, continued down 19th Avenue and ended in an apartment building parking lot in the Dana Heights area.

The domestic assault charge, which was reduced from a felony, stemmed from a Jan. 31 incident that involved threatening a woman with a knife and threatening to burn down her home.

A review of his record includes a prior domestic assault conviction in April 2008, a resisting arrest conviction in January 2004, a 2003 conviction for unlawfully carrying a weapon, plus prior convictions in Texas for assault in 2000 and violation of a restraining order in 2002.
