Ronald D. Jorgenson March 3, 1927 - March 5, 2009
WILLMAR -- Ronald Douglas "Jorgie" Jorgenson, 82, of Willmar, died Thursday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Covenant Church in Willmar.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born March 3, 1927, in Willmar to Walter and Bernice (Bjur) Jorgenson. He grew up in Willmar until he was 15, when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He spent a short time in Granite Falls and was later transferred to Ah Gwah Ching State Hospital in Cass County where he was cared for into his early 20s and he received his high school diploma.
On April 14, 1951, he married Shirley Blair in Willmar. He worked for Erickson's Filling Station for a few years and then began his career as a parts man for CD&T and Broman's. Before retiring in 1989, he worked for four years at Jennie-O Foods.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Linda Nelson (and special friend, John Moller) of Willmar, Nancy Nelson (and special friend, Steven Skaalerud) of Minneapolis, Cheryl (and Roger) Wig of Spicer, Rhonda (and Bruce) Wold of New London, Doreen (and Joe) Kotzenmacher of Willmar, Alanna (and Craig) Hass of Spicer and Jodi (and Ray) Barboza of Little Rock, Ark.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; siblings: Rodger (and Helen) Jorgenson of Rockton, Ill., LaVone Jensen of Paynesville, DeeDee Emberland of Willmar and Elaine (and Ed) Meshriy of San Dimas, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson.
