MORRIS -- Roy Alvin Jesness, 95, of Morris, died Saturday at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Burial will be in Scandia West Cemetery near Cyrus.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at West Wind Village in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Memorials are preferred to the Scandia West Cemetery Restoration Fund.
He was born May 14, 1914, in Swan Lake Township, Stevens County, to Alfred and Clara (Carlson) Jesness. He attended the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris and then worked on the family farm.
He married Ruth Ross on Oct. 1, 1948, and operated a dairy and grain farm in Swan Lake Township. They retired in 1995 and moved into Morris. He was a member of Scandia Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus and was a member of the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his children: Don (and Carol) Jesness of Eagan, Jerry (and Liz) Jesness of League City, Texas, and Linda Jesness of Burnsville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings: Elmer (and Eileen) Jesness of Wendell and Ruth Tweed of Grand Forks, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2008, two sisters and one brother.
