Ruby L. Freeberg April 20, 1933 - July 30, 2013

WILLMAR - Ruby L. Freeberg, 80, of Willmar, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Her funeral will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 2nd at Svea Evangelical Lutheran Church in Svea. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Ruby was born on April 20, 1933, in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Melvin and Myrtle (Hatlestad) Larson. She grew up in Colfax Township and attended District 13 and graduated from New London High School in 1951.

On June 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to Howard Freeberg at First Lutheran of Norway Lake Church. Following their marriage they lived in Willmar. Ruby worked for Northwestern Bell and Willmar Public Schools before retiring in 1993.

She was baptized and confirmed at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church and was a member of Svea Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was active with the quilters, library assistant and also cradle roll. For several years, Ruby was also a pianist.

Ruby belonged to several organizations: Sons of Norway, Swedish Friends, Senior Citizens, and was a founding member of The Ruby Club, all of which she truly enjoyed. She also was an election judge, Rice Hospital Volunteer, bowled and helped with the Blood Mobile.

Surviving are her son, Dale (and Joan) Freeberg of Maple Grove; daughter, Diane Freeberg of Plymouth; two grandchildren, Jerod and Kory Freeberg; and siblings, Lewis (and Clarice) Larson of Willmar; Orville (and Phyllis) Larson of Rochester; Elaine Hanson of New London, Dennis (and Cheryle) Larson of Prescott, AZ and Dean (and Sandi) Larson of Willmar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard on December 7, 2007 and brother, Cecil.
