Rural Kimball farm buildings lost in fire
KIMBALL -- A machine shed, hay barn, milking parlor and silos were damaged by fire Thursday evening at the rural Kimball farmstead of Duane Edward Holker.
According to a news release from Meeker County Sheriff Mike Hirman, the sheriff's office was dispatched to the Holker place around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The Dassel, Kimball, Watkins and Litchfield fire departments were called to fight the blaze.
The responding deputy arrived to find multiple buildings on fire. Holker's son had been cutting metal in the shed when sparks ignited the fire and then the wind carried the fire to the other buildings. Damage estimate is believed to be more than $120,000.
