Russell O. Olson May 21, 1929 - April 15, 2009
MILAN -- Russell Odell Olson, 79, of Milan died Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home, Montevideo.
He was born May 21, 1929, in Chippewa County to Ole and Annie (Johnson) Olson. He graduated from Milan High School in 1947.
He married Carol Thompson on Sept. 4, 1949, in rural Dawson. They farmed near Milan until his retirement and, in May 2008, they moved into Milan. He was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church where he taught the Bethel Series, was a Sunday school teacher, served on the church council and as president of the congregation. He served on the Milan Elevator Board and the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital Board.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Jane (and Gary) Boraas of Madison, Connie (and Tim) Larson of Willmar, Charlotte (and Craig) Strand of Milan and Jeffrey (and Cynthia) Olson of Chanhassen; 12 grandchildren and one sister: Janet (and Arlo) Tostenson of Milan.
He was preceded in death by one son: James; and two sisters, one in infancy.
