SPICER -- Ruth Edith Johnson, 90, of Spicer, died Sunday at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Private burial will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.
She was born July 20, 1918, in Willmar to Charles and Lillie (Miller) Skoglund. She grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School. She attended beauty school in Minneapolis and returned to Willmar and worked as a beautician for a short time.
She married Myron "Mya" Johnson on June 17, 1938, in Milbank, S.D. They lived in Willmar until 1965, when they moved to their home on Green Lake in Spicer. She moved to GlenOaks Care Center in 2004.
She was a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar and a current member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. She was a member of the Spicer Garden Club and a member of the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery Association.
She is survived by two daughters: Diane (and Charles) Robinson of New Market, Ind., and Carole (and Wendell) Kallevig of Kandiyohi; a son: Jim Johnson of Cold Spring; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; daughter: Sandy Johnson in 1964; and one brother.
