MONTEVIDEO -- Ruth Elaine Olson, 79, of Milan died Sunday at Rosewood care facility in Montevideo.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Big Bend Lutheran Church in rural Milan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
She was born Sept. 13, 1928, in Storden to Clifford and Mary (Mattison) Gustad. She moved with her family to rural Milan and graduated from Appleton High School in 1947.
She married Wallace Olson on Sept. 5, 1948, in rural Milan. They lived and farmed in rural Milan until 1995, when they moved into Milan. Beginning in 1985, they spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz. Since 2004, she has lived at Sunbridge and Rosewood care facilities in Montevideo.
She was a longtime member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher, a circle member and a member of the women's groups.
She is survived by her husband; four children: Gerald (and Marge) Olson of Danvers, Kenneth (and Carol) Olson of Milan, Debra (and Robert) Munsterman of Milan and Richard (and Kim) Olson of Milan; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Orvis (and Connie) Gustad of Grand Junction, Colo., Dudley (and Angie) Gustad of Osage, Clarice (and John) Velde of Clarkfield and Connie (and Vern) Lien of Boyd.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
