Ruth G. Disrud

STARBUCK -- Ruth Gladys Disrud, 84, of Starbuck, died Friday at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Burial will be in the church cemetery near Starbuck.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Starbuck Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
She was born May 31, 1924, in Gilchrist Township in Pope County to John and Minnie (Jergenson) Johnson. She grew up in that area and attended rural schools in Districts 14 and 38 before graduating from Glenwood High School. She began working in Glenwood as a waitress and later as a clerk at Harry's Grocery.
On Sept. 23, 1945, she married Ortmand P. Disrud. They lived in the Starbuck area, where she worked at the local hardware store and also at Pederson's Super Valu. She later took a position as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Sanford Wilson, where she remained for 24 years. She then worked part-time as a clerk at Bredeson's Variety Store for several years before retiring.
She was a member of Fron Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Women of Fron. She also volunteered at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home and was a member of the Minnewaska Lutheran Home Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughters: Helen (and Lloyd) Christenson of New Ulm and Anne (and David) Rollie of Richfield; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Joan (and Jerome) Blaskowski of Sauk Centre.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 13, 1999; two brothers; and one sister.
