Ruth A. Kallevig June 10, 1921 - Jan. 29, 2014

NEW HOPE - Ruth A. Kallevig, 92, of New Hope, died Wednesday, January 29th at Ambassador Good Samaritan Home in New Hope. Her funeral will be 1:30 pm, Monday, February 10th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm (noon) at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

Ruth was born June 10, 1921 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Bernhard and Lillie Guldseth. Her first home was in northern Alberta, Canada. She grew up and attended school in Belmond, IA, and attended Augsburg College.

On May 22, 1944 she married Emil Kallevig at Bethel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Following their marriage, they lived in Superior, WI, Wallace, SD, Morris, MN, Enumclaw, WA and Kennewick, WA, where her husband served as pastor to various congregations.

In 1965, Ruth began studying for her nursing degree at Columbia Basin College and graduated in 1966 with her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Following graduation, she worked as an LPN in nursing homes in Kennewick, WA, Willmar, MN, Fergus Falls, Minneapolis and Hopkins, MN until retiring in 1981. After retirement, Ruth spent winter months in Apache Junction, AZ and summers at her home in Willmar, MN.

She is survived by her children David (Judi) Kallevig; Donald (Kathie) Kallevig; Kay (Tom) Holm; Karolyn (Jeffrey) Elstad; daughter-in-law Janice (Duane) Rollag-Kallevig, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Eunice Johnson, Paul (Ruth) Guldseth, Lois (Wayne) Steinbrecker, Rhoda (Richard) Schaeffer, and James (Marilyn) Guldseth.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Emil, her parents, her sister, Dorothy and her son, Duane.
