Ruth A. Lothert July 10, 1919 - Jan. 27, 2009
REDWOOD FALLS -- Ruth A. Lothert, 89, of Morton, died Tuesday at Seasons in Redwood Falls.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton. Burial will be in the Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and will continue at the church for one hour prior to services.
She was born July 10, 1919, in Odessa Township, Big Stone County, to August and Martha (Gutknecht) Pansch. She attended the country school in Big Stone County through the eighth grade. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1935 and continued her education in Ortonville, receiving her teacher certificate in 1937. She taught in rural schools in Lac qui Parle and Renville counties.
On June 23, 1946, she married Erwin Lothert in Odessa. They resided in Morton their entire married lives where they owned and operated the Standard Oil and later the Texaco gas stations. They retired in 1978. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school, was the local AAL secretary/treasurer for 27 years and belonged to the ladies aid, where she held all offices. She worked in the corn canning factory and was an Avon representative for many years.
She is survived by her children: Allan (and Donna) Lothert of Redwood Falls, Cheryl (and Dennis) Drewyer of Newnan, Ga.; a daughter-in-law: Susie Lothert of Olivia; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister: Mabel (and Amer) Holman of Appleton.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; son: Terry in 2000; five sisters; and three brothers.
