Ruth Nordstrom, 82, of Willmar, died Wednesday, June 25th at her home. Her burial will be Monday, July 7th, at 11:30 am at Salem Covenant Cemetery, rural Pennock followed by her funeral at 1:30 PM, at First Covenant Church in Willmar. A time to visit with the family will be from 12:30 pm until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Ruth Elaine Nordstrom was born on September 20, 1931, to Harry and Minnie (Anderson) Edberg at home in rural Maynard, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Buffalo Lake Covenant Church. Ruth attended elementary school at District 36 and graduated from Maynard High School in 1949. On October 1, 1949 Ruth married Eldon Nordstrom at the Buffalo Lake Covenant Church. After marriage, Ruth and Eldon moved to the family farm in rural Pennock where they had three children, one son and two daughters. In 1965, they moved to Silverton, Oregon and in 1966 to Willmar
Ruth was a member of First Covenant Church of Willmar. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member and leader of the Dorcas Circle. Ruth worked a variety of jobs, nurses aide at the Christian Rest Home and Rice Hospital, bus driver, bus monitor, child care and store clerk at Red Owl. Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, making quilts and spending time with family and friends. Ruth and Eldon enjoyed traveling, taking many trips by car and bus.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Eldon; children: Richard (Carolyn ) Nordstrom of Gem Lake, Linda (Jeff) Just of Atwater, Judy (Willie) Bond of Coon Rapids; five grandchildren: Jaime (Wole) Awoyinka, Jenee (Tom) Bartosh, Jessica (Danny) Imholte, Adam Just (special friend Nicole Falk), Aaron Bond (fiance Gina Brill); and three great grandchildren, Fox and Sawyer Imholte, and Adewale Awoyinka. She is also survived by one sister, Florence Bauman of Kerkhoven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Minnie, two brothers, Luverne Edberg and LeRoy Edberg, and two sisters, Lorraine Carlson and Arlene Smoots.
