Ruth was born in Grafton ND. She was the only child of Thomas and Lillian Driscoll. After graduating from Grafton High School in 1937, Ruth attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI to pursue a degree in Social Work. During her summers she worked at outdoor camps, which was the beginning of her life-long love of the outdoors and birds and animals. This has been a legacy to her children and grandchildren. Ruth met her husband, George, when she came to Olivia as a young social worker and they were married on November 25, 1943. Ruth was a strong supporter of their family businesses including Trojan Seed Company, and Georges cattle and crop farming. She loved her work with the Girl Scouts, the AFS foreign exchange student program and especially the Mission in San Lucas de Atitlan in Guatemala, where she led groups of volunteers. She was a loyal friend and a committed mother, who always made time for her children and her grandchildren. Her quiet presence will be greatly missed, but what she has given each of us will live on.
