LITCHFIELD -- Ruth Loraine Solmonson, 73, of Litchfield died Thursday at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
The service was Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield with burial in the Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
She was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Cornish Township, Sibley County, to Edwin and Minnie (Kreft) Muetzel. She graduated from Atwater High School in 1953.
She married Lloyd Solmonson on Nov. 27, 1953, in Litchfield. They lived in Litchfield and she was a homemaker. She worked at Fingerhut, Jennie-O Foods and finally Carlson Companies before she retired in 2000. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Litchfield, the Litchfield VFW Post 2818 Auxiliary, the Litchfield American Legion Post 104 Auxiliary and the Eagles Aerie Post 3424. She moved into Emmanuel Home in Litchfield in November.
She is survived by her husband; children: Debra (and Harold) Kriesel of Mankato, Dale (and special friend Dawn) Solmonson of Casper, Wyo., Ronald (and Debra) Solmonson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Jane (and Edward) Goettl of Mankato and Roger (and Vicki) Solmonson of New Castle, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings: Martin "Bud" (and Delores) Muetzel of Hutchinson and Dorothy (and special friend, Jim) Hoffman of Eagan.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
