Ruth 'Tootie' Arndt March 22, 1925 - Dec. 9, 2009
HECTOR Ruth "Tootie" Arndt, 84, formerly of rural Litchfield and Cosmos, died Wednesday at the Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, rural Hector. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born March 22, 1925, in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County, to Werner, and Sophia (Schaefer) Reinke. She grew up in the Cedar Mills area and attended St. John's Lutheran School and Litchfield Public School.
She married Elmer Arndt on Oct. 11, 1946. They lived west of Cosmos for one year and then moved to her parents' home for two years. They moved to their farm near Corvuso in 1949. They moved to Cosmos in 2002 and she moved into Burns Manor in Hutchinson earlier this year. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township and was active with WELCA. She was a member of the card club, and was also involved at the senior nutrition site in Cosmos.
She is survived by her children: Sue (and Gary) Martin of Cosmos, Randy (and Kim) Arndt of Eden Valley and Betty (and Dale) Sturges of Brownton; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Mick (and Roberta) Reinke of Cosmos, Gordy (and Sharon ) Reinke of Darwin and Mark (and Bernie) Reinke of Litchfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005; son-in-law: Thomas Dressel; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; one brother; and one sister.
