SARTELL -- An 11-2 run in the opening minutes of the second half and Haley Guetter's game-high 29 points sparked Sartell to a 58-46 win over Willmar Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference girls basketball game.

The Sabres, who had lost 52-44 to Willmar Dec. 22 on the Cardinals' home court, rallied from an eight-point deficit midway through the first half to take a slim 28-26 lead at halftime.

Willmar (11-3, 16-4) and Sartell (11-3, 16-5) traded buckets to start the second half before the Sabres pieced together an 11-2 run to take a 46-37 lead. Jena Thompson, who netted 17 points, had tied the game at 35 for Willmar with a three-point play.

"We were stuck on 39 and just couldn't seem to get off that," said Willmar coach Brad Atchison, referring to his team being scoreless for nearly 5:30 during a stretch midway through the second half. "We just got cold and they put on a nice little spurt."

Sartell went on an 8-0 run in between's Alex Lippert's basket at the 9:03 mark and Mariel Aamot's free throw with 3:44 left to take its biggest lead of the game at 54-39.

Willmar, which is now tied with Sartell for second place in the conference, hosts St. Cloud Tech on Thursday.
