Sauk Rapids avenges earlier loss to Willmar
SAUK RAPIDS -- Sauk Rapids avenged its loss at Willmar by dominating the Cardinals on the Storm's home court 25-12, 25-13 and 25-17 on Tuesday in Central Lakes Conference volleyball.
"We couldn't adjust to their attack and we gave them points on our miscues," said Willmar coach Mary Hanson. "We managed no blocks and our defense wasn't on. I guess our highlight would be the play of Sara Banks."
Banks, a junior outside hitter, was perfect on six chances at the net with two going for kills.
Willmar, which defeated Sauk Rapids 3-1 on Sept. 2 in Willmar, was stifled at the net this time.
Taya Nelson's five kills led the Cardinals. Kelsey Evans and Emily Nelsen had four kills apiece. The Cardinals did not manage an ace block in the match. Hannah Smith and Jennie Mattison had eight assists each.
