School Board to meet later Monday due to Truth in Taxation presentation

WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.

The board will meet later than usual to meet legal requirements for its Truth in Taxation presentation, which will take place at the beginning of the meeting.

The board will listen to public comments related to items on the agenda after the Truth in Taxation presentation.

Those who want to comment on issues that are not on Monday's agenda will be able to do so at the end of the meeting.

The board is scheduled to approve the property tax levy for 2010 during the meeting. The levy is $6.7 million, an increase of 1.8 percent over the levy for 2009.

Also on the agenda is a resolution directing the administration to make recommendations for budget cuts and approval of the joint powers agreement with the city of Willmar for the Community Education and Recreation Department.

The board will hear an update on the Music Matters organization during the public comment period at the end of the meeting.
