WILLMAR -- Most area schools are delaying the start of classes two hours today after 6-7 inches of new snow fell yesterday, whipped up by winds that are expected to increase throughout the day creating dangerous conditions by tonight.

A blowing and drifting snow advisory remains in effect through the afternoon, which could cause reduced visibility and drifting and compacted snow on east and west bound roads that could become slick for travelers.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning that will be in effect from 9 p.m. tonight through noon on Wednesday.

The combination of falling temperatures and wind speeds of 10-15 mph will drive wind chill values down to the 35-45 degree below zero range in west central Minnesota and portions of southwest and south central Minnesota, according to the Weather Service.
