Seahawks see Carlson-Miller combination as double-trouble for opponents
The Seattle Seahawks added Pro Bowler Zach Miller to their roster on Tuesday giving head coach Pete Carroll a pair of pass-catching tight ends.
John Carlson, the Litchfield, Minn., native, has started 29 games for Seattle over the past two seasons.
According to blogs on the team's site, Carroll is excited to have the dual threat and maintains there's plenty of room for both.
"Anybody who thinks anything otherwise doesn't get it," Carroll is quoted. "I think those guys will play together in tandem."
Miller caught at least 60 passes each of the last two seasons at Oakland. He's a fifth-year pro out of Arizona State.
Both range in weight from 250-255 pounds. Miller is 6-5 and Carlson, a four-year pro out of Notre Dame, is 6-7. He has averaged 45 catches over the last three seasons.
In any case, Carlson won't be snagging passes from veteran Matt Hasselbeck, who signed with Tennessee during free agency. His likely replacement is former Vikings back-up and occasional starter Tavaris Jackson.
