Search continues for missing rural Staples man

STAPLES - The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports Tuesday that their search is continuing for a rural Staples man, who was been missing since Friday.

Peter Achermann, 82, of rural Staples, was last seen Friday. The car that Achermann was driving was located Saturday evening stuck in a dirt trail mud hole in rural southwest Cass County, located northeast of Staples. The man was scheduled to attend a family wedding Saturday.

Achermann is a white man, about 5-foot-9, 175 pounds and has a gray beard and generally walks with a cane. He lives on a Moose Lake Township farm north of Leader.

Cass County authorities report an extensive air and ground search Saturday evening, Sunday and Monday of the Cass County area where the vehicle was located. Searchers involved in the search include law enforcement officers and Posse members from Cass and Wadena counties, Motley and Staples Fire Departments, Central Lakes Search and Rescue, community volunteers, family members and aircraft from the Minnesota State Patrol.
