Seifert, Sik win Litchfield Watercade runs

LITCHFIELD — Tom Seifert and Tracy Sik, both of Willmar, won the male and female divisions, respectively, at the Watercade Lake Ripley Run on Saturday morning.

Seifert, 18, finished in 23:20, three seconds up on Eric Januszewski, 26, of rural Grove City. Seifert took runner-up at both the Foot Lake 4 and the Green Lake 12-miler. Januszewski, who won the Red Beard 7k in March, ran a sub-2:50 at Boston in April.

It was the fifth victory for Sik in the 2014 Glacial Lakes Championship Running Series. A minute back in second place was Annie Kopplin, 27, of Minneapolis, followed  by Beth Vangulijk, 48, of New London in 29:46.

Just graduated and former Litchfield Dragon, Caleb Kragenbring, 18, placed third overall in 24:14, followed by Mark Mortenson, 45, of Litchfield and Kevin VanHeuveln, 52, of Pennock.

Pickle Events timed 237 entrants, an almost even split of 118 male and 119 female runners.
