APPLETON -- Selma Elvine Boraas, 94, of Appleton died Saturday at Appleton Area Health Services.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home, Vaala Chapel in Appleton.
She was born September 19, 1912, in Lakeshore Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Anton and Guro (Ottness) Bertness. She graduated from eighth grade and then stayed home to help care for her father, who had Parkinson's disease. She worked at Nordgaarden Department Store for two years, then for JC Penney.
She married Floyd Boraas June 3, 1938. She was a homemaker. In 1976, they moved into Appleton and in 2001, she entered Appleton Nursing Home.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church; where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Wednesday school. She served several years as chairwoman of Sunset Community and was the chairwoman of the boys club. She also served on the senior citizen's board and the Sons of Norway Board.
She is survived by her husband; one son: Roger (and Marlene) Boraas of Appleton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Boraas, six sisters and four brothers.
