Selma Gunderson April 7, 1917 - July 1, 2009
WILLMAR -- Selma Marie Gunderson, 92, of Willmar died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Vinje Lutheran Church.
She was born April 7, 1917, in Sauk Rapids to Gustave and Edna (Frazier) Adams. She grew up in Sauk Rapids and attended Sauk Rapids High School.
She married Lorney Finn in 1938 and they moved to Willmar. They divorced in 1947.
She married Levine Gunderson in 1952 in Willmar. She worked at the State Hospital and at Nelsen's Laundry. In 1957, they became the caretakers for the Kandiyohi County Fairgrounds, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and was a Mother of the Year for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Vinje Lutheran Church and was a life member of the Kandiyohi County Fair.
She is survived by her children: Irenus (and Sue) Finn of Aitkin; Sallie (and Gary) Bergeson of Chanhassen, Ardis (and Ron) Mahlen of Bloomington and Beverly Cain of Willmar; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; daughter: Katherine Gunderson at birth; son: Daniel Finn in 2008; daughter-in-law: Nancy Finn in 2008; three brothers; and four sisters.
