Seminars offered on business use of Internet

WILLMAR -- The Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission and Ridgewater College are co-sponsoring a pair of seminars Tuesday on how businesses can harness the power of the Internet.

The two half-day seminars will be held in the large outreach room at Ridgewater College; parking is in Lot C east.

The seminars are designed to offer practical advice and information to help businesses get started on a Web site or expand an existing Web site.

The morning session, covering basic Web site setup and marketing, is from 8 a.m. to noon. It will feature topics such as planning a Web site, deciding on the content and how to use the site in other advertising, with real examples from local businesses on what they did, what worked and what kinds of problems they encountered along the way.

The afternoon session, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., is on Web site optimization and e-commerce. It will go into greater depth on search engines, multimedia, benefits of e-business and various types of e-commerce. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers. Local Web site designers also will be available as an additional resource with information on the types of sites they have designed.

The cost of the seminar is $49 for one session and $89 for both sessions. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, contact Jean Spaulding at 320-235-7370 or go to www.kandiyohi. com with links under "Latest events and news."
