Sen. Gary Kubly still hospitalized in St. Paul; condition is stable
Sen. Gary Kubly of Granite Falls remained hospitalized today at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was taken by ambulance Wednesday after suffering cardiac-like symptoms.
He's currently sedated but his condition is considered stable, according to his wife, Pat.
"It's a wait-and-see situation," Pat Kubly said in a phone interview today.
Kubly, 68, was diagnosed just over a year ago with amyotropic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease. A longtime Lutheran pastor, he is in his third term representing District 20 in the Minnesota Senate.
His wife said the couple's three adult children are with them at Regions Hospital. "We're going to just focus on him," she said.
Doctors are conducting tests, and the family expects to know more on Friday.
Pat Kubly said the family is grateful for the outpouring of support they've received. Visitors to the hospital have included two pastors from Granite Falls and the Lutheran bishop.
